Parancsolsz? (Walk This Way)
interactive videoinstallation

The visitor can enter a meandering path bordered by the cordons that are used in exhibition spaces. Facing the entrance to this area (at its exit) are two TV sets, each standing on a pedestal. Corresponding to how the visitor moves in the space, the video-sequences play either on the right- or left-hand TV. These videos have been recorded in exactly the same location, in exactly this same space, as that where the visitor is now, exactly in the same situation: someone goes along the given path. The movement of this recorded person develops according to the influence of the visitor. The movements of the person in the TV answer to the way the visitor moves; the visitor’s tempo and direction determine the playback. There is a so-called “neutral, transitional area” at the middle lane, at the breadth of the entrance and exit. If the visitor remains in this section or traverses it, s/he basically leaves the image, i.e., the video playback is interrupted, and the next person following walks out of the image (from the TV) / walks into the image (into the TV).
