Kistarcsa Kulturális Egyesület
(Kistarcsa Cultural Association)

Hungarian version (Magyar verzió)

The Kistarcsa Kulturális Egyesület started operation in April 1993. The civil association is commited to contribute to the cultural life of the settlement.

The members of the club come together once a week, when educational lectures are offered. Some of the members also act as lecturers but well-known and respected experts are also often invited. These programs are public, they are advertised in Kistarcsai Híradó (the local paper) and on notice-boards.

Amateur performaces are organized, where talented locals can present their skills. Both children and adults have proved to be enthusiastic performers.

The Association is responsible for the annual wine-harvest festivity, which, with the colorful parade and the dance, has a long tradition in Kistarcsa.

The "Kistarcsa Days" were first organized in 1995, and we would like to hold it in the following years too. This is a good opportunity for non-profit organizations and groups to introduce themselves to the public, and for us to invite some artists and to mobilise a big proportion of the inhabitants as beside the cultural programs other activities are also offered, for example local craftsmen present their skills.

The Association is commited to help the amateur groups of the settlement. Programs are organized for them, and as far as our resources allow it, financial aid is also given.

In 1995, a brochure comprising works of literature, fine arts, as well as of art-craft, made by local artists was published. In the future, we would like to provide the artists, either professional or amateur, with the same opportunity to present their work to the public.

In 1996, together with the neighboring settlements we organized the "Conquest trials" to celebrate the 1100 anniversary of Hungary. These programs were to introduce a series of programs aimed to strengthen our Hungarian identity. In the autumn of 1997, a competition about Hungary will be held.

The ideas and suggestions of the locals who are not members of the Association are also considered when discussing the future programs. We also help to set up new goups, independent of their scope of activity.

None of the members of the Association receive any emoluments for their work in the association, everybody contributes to our activity with voluntary work.

The territory where the Association operates is Kistarcsa, we may use the rooms belonging to the municipality free of charge. The municipality also helps us with financial aid, however, their resources for cultural purposes are limited.

In order to realize our future plans, we further rely on the help of the enterpreneurs and organizations operating in our settlement, who have already contributed with financial means to our activity.

Beyond these resources, however, we do have to use every help available through tenders.
