Veronica
Tamásy, M.D., Ph.D.
Head of Research Laboratory of the Ontogenetic Brain Research
Foundation. Associate Professor of Physiology in the Department of Physiology,
University Medical School of Pécs, Hungary. Licensed specialist
in Clinical Chemistry (1980), Physiology (1980), and Neurobiology (1997).
Member of the New York Academy of Sciences, and the International Brain
Research Organization (IBRO).
Among her several scientific memberships, Dr. Tamásy
is a founding member of the European Neuroscience Association, the International
Society for Developmental Neuroscience, and the Hungarian Neuroscience
Society. One of her research paper - published in 1976 - has been regarded
by the INTERNET as „classic paper”.
Between 1982 and 1984, Dr. Tamásy worked as Fulbright
Visiting Professor in the USA at the University California Berkeley, CA.
Her scientific research interest includes the fields of the
electrophysiological and behavioral development of the central nervous
system; perinatal ontogeny of brain function and memory; maternal behavior
and mother infant interrelationship; pre- and postnatal vulnerability of
the hippocampus formation; early and late effects of steroid hormones and
trace metals on the development and aging.
Several students of Dr. Tamásy (e.g. Judith
Balatincz, dr. László Balikó, dr.
Victoria Beretzky, dr. Suzanne Gál,
dr. Zsuzsanna Keszthelyi, Tímea Szepesi)
also have actively contributed to the continuation of the neurophysiological
school created by the late Professor Kálmán Lissák.
