In 2000, the first event of the exhibition series organised within the framework of millennium events took place, realised as a collaborative project of the C3 Foundation, the Műcsarnok/Kunsthalle Budapest and the Association of Hungarian Artists: the exhibition entitled Media Model: INTERMEDIA - New Image Genres - Interactive Techniques. The organising institutions published in 2001 a catalogue in English and Hungarian language, which presents on 300 pages organised according to the layout of the exhibition, the Hungarian media art of the past decade up to the present, placed in an international context. For the first time in Hungary, a publication has been produced that implements a comprehensive introduction to artworks built upon the potentialities of the new technologies, which allows for international readers, as well, to become acquainted with the evolution and the present of perhaps the most dynamically developing branch of Hungarian contemporary art. Miklós Peternák's introductory essay is followed by the richly illustrated presentation of the exhibited artworks, which are in many cases accompanied by the artists' own writings about their works. With a view to the pioneering character of this publication, we considered it important to compile a chronology based upon the happenings related to Hungarian media art, as well as to impart the detailed professional biographical data of the participating artists.
