The Hungarian and international media art exhibition entitled The Butterfly Effect (Mūcsarnok/Kunsthalle Budapest, 1996) for the first time in Hungary attempted to provide a comprehensive picture of contemporary media art within a historical context. The historical section entitled Media Relics presented Central and Eastern European technological discoveries, inventions and experiments, while Current Coordinates was the contemporary exhibition displaying the media art compositions of Hungarian and international artists with a relationship to Central and Eastern Europe. The CD-ROM, which presents the exhibition and exhibited works, also contains the material of the lectures and presentations of the accompanying international symposium entitled Before the Moment of Discovery.
