The volume published in Hungarian and English was produced according to the exhibition and event series collaboratively by the Műcsarnok/Kunsthalle Budapest and the C3 Foundation and realised in the summer of 1999, to significant professional and popular success, which presented the transformations of the image form based upon the discovery of perspective, from the Renaissance to the present day.

The representative, impressively designed volume, thematically structured and illustrated with several hundred images, provides a survey of the half-millennium of the applications of historical and contemporary art of perspective. Alongside the reproductions of exhibited works and their related descriptions and critiques, the book also contains the texts of the lectures given by distinguished Hungarian and international experts in various fields related to the theme, within the accompanying international symposium. Likewise, documentation of the accompanying screening series, offering a sampling of the filmic applications and methods of interpretation of perspective, and film analyses can be found, as can bibliographical sources related to the thematic sphere of perspective.
