Saint Joseph Children’s Home,
Szováta (Sovata)
Sovata is a new and very important facility of symbolic character. The money
to purchase the property was collected by the children of Hungary on the
initiative of the Hungarian Bishops' Conference. Last year our diocese
offered a considerable sum, collected at the Saint Elisabeth fundraising,
for the renovation of the property. Another fundraising was organized in
Germany and thus we were able to start setting up nine apartments.
Thankfully, we have succeeded to complete an apartment and so on September
15 the social residence, named after Domonkos Kázmér ofm, could be started with
10 children, under the leadership of Pál Mária. In early December, 19
children are being looked after by 3 foster parents.
Domonkos Kázmér took on monastic priesthood during one of the most critical
eras of Transylvania: in the mid-1600s, and then he reorganized the
Transylvanian diocese done away with by the reformers.
We'd love to raise "little Kázmérs", who would resolve the troubles and
problems of present-day Transylvania with love and enduring work.
