Dear Inhabitants of Szentantalfa, 16 June, 1995 Bokorliget

Every settlement looks forward uneasily to changes and new things, because everyone would like to see the future clearly when new inhabitants move into their surroundings. That is why we wanted to meet you and talk about our plans, and answer your questions.
Our first visit to the Local Government was on 3 August, 1993 in the name of the Család Alapítvány (Family Foundation), because the Bokorliget Foundation was only a plan that time. We became fond of Hangyásalja and we have arranged the official things to be able to buy it since then.
We cite from our letter written to the Local Government in 1993:
" We would like to build a villagepart, which is related to the chosen village organically and helps it with working for it. At the beginning 4-5 families would like to move here, later receiving a maximum of 20-30 families. Thus, for we plan the move gradually, people would visit the families living here and would join in their work, and if they like the formed lifestyle of ours they can live here as long as they want to.
The village where the first families are going to settle will have considerable international reputation because of our establishment, for this will be the first of that kind in Eastern-Central Europe.
There are many experts among us, with the help of whom we would like to develop the following areas (naturally not only for ourselves, but also for the benefit of the surrounding settlements):
Social activities, ...
Agricultural activities without the use of pesticides or poison, first for own usage, later for others as well, for example in the form of healing (biofarm).
We would like to continue our publishing work (books and newspaper), and we would like to maintain our international relationships and our knowledge of computer sciences, and later we want these things to be available for others too.
Production of toys, made of natural materials, ...
Production of special instruments.
Education in all the above mentioned areas.
... We would like to work and employ people without exploitation, following the principles of non-violence.
... We would like to show the youth and the children true values..."
We still keep ourselves to this first letter of ours, and now we are able to inform you about some results as well, which can be read in the first copy of the Bokorliget Hírlevél (Bokorliget Newsletter). The Veszprémi Napló cited from it on 13 June, 1995.
The Bokorliget Foundation is not rich, it has to work hard for every penny like everyone else in Hungary. Our trust is in the power of the community, which can supply us with a lot of work, money and tools. We also believe in and hope for God’s help, for our intentions are sincere, and not selfish. We do not want to strengthen ourselves only in the framework of the community, but we want to share with you everything we have.
We want you not to expect impossible and quick results from us, but we would like to get acquainted gradually with the possibilities and necessities of the village, and we want to help by co-operating with you. For example, by creating jobs, social work, education and organisation of programmes for the youth.
We are not able to move yet, but we are working on the conditions. Now we are glad that we can use the school building. We will take care of it, repair it and make it lively summertime. A site office will be built first on Bokorliget, for making the work and camping possible. We would like to organise camps this summer, but we might not have the money for it. The opportunity of camping with us will be open for the children of Szentantalfa. Later, we want to organise special camps as well, where the children can learn folklore, architecture, handicraft, languages, organic farming and many other interesting and important things.
We ask you to trust us, for we do not want to deprive anything from the village, but to enrich it (mainly not financially). It would be great if you came to us bravely when having a problem with others or with us, when warning us, or when you are just happy.

We greet everyone in the name of the Bokorliget Community:

Márta Kaszap (born: Márta Zalatnay)

In remembrance of my grandparents, Dániel and Margit Zalatnay, who loved to live in Szentantalfa, and I spent my summer holidays there between 1948 and 1963.
