Weaving starts directly when conducting interviews with inhabitants of the neighbourhood about their habits of waking up. The main question being: “When do you wake up normaly in the morning?”
All answers can later be used in the final soundtrack of the Barrio Fever performance.
We record many local sounds:
To end research period we post houndreds of stickers allover the neighbourhood, mostly on rainpipes and hidrant boxes.
We also post 100 posters about missing bear (cat). These posters also are placed in the windows of local shops.
We explain to people that there is no dangereous bear in the hood and that the bear would (not) come to their living room.
We perform Barrio Fever: Smart car with fine speakers on the roof drives through the neighbourhood, plays music and sounds during twilight hours for 7 days.
This happens mostly from 5-7 in the morning.
People are asleep and when they normaly wake up in the morning (mostly beetween 7 and 8, alochtone bewoners in average wake up 1 hour before autochtone), through their dreams, they hear themselves explaining they heard glasbak driving through their street, rubish truck arriving on the wrong day and too early, they heard ping pong game on the moving ping pong table, they heard boats passing by their house, they heard boss from the Nightshop shout at the cassa girl, they noticed that bridge with the trams passing was just outside their windows...
Some people (also) heard themselves shouting at their dog. The dog(s also) heard their owner(s) shouting at them around 5:30 in the morning. Confusing, but nevertheless wonderful “fear factor experience”. For the dog!
To make it more beautiful we also play synthetic sounds of exotic birds, donkeys and some gentle sounds from porno movies in support of morning sex life of the neighbourhood.
Nobody wakes up. They dream away.
In the morning they all smile about beautiful dreams they had last night.
We also circle around the tram stop on the square playing music for the people waiting for the first four trams (6:01 till 6:43). Every morning there are the same people waiting. Our music makes them happier on their way to their cleaning jobs.
The performances end. On that occasion we play only the stories from the audio adaptation of the Bear Book and also the Bear Songs.
We are very happy with the way our project developes and we surely help inhabitants of the neighbourhood, our neighbourhood, to have unic and wonderful experience.
Nobody expects it Nobody notices it But it is (full house) every time(.) (the) full house BARRIO FEVER.
During the following week we remove all the stickers and posters to keep our neighbourhood clean!
We notice that unknown to us voluntiers already removed most of them.
