The subject of the Electronic Encyclopedia is the investigation of the phenomenology and wonders of nature, the capacity for the eye to distinguish between colours, and the nature of the capacity for memory and the brain to comprehend and name things seen and heard. The CD-ROM is a labyrinth-like archive of the regularity and exceptionality of colour theory, morphology and acoustics, alongside being a natural history of the inner landscapes of the microcosm of the collection of the artist, Miloš Šejn. It documents the artist's research enduring for many years on the border regions of sound and colour, movement, the written word and the spoken word, and it traces his devotion to nature, and his observations related to the colour scale and morphology of objects and occurrences. We can perceive even his diary of the dissolution of the landscape, which allows an insight into the book of landscapes and into the landscapes of books. He seizes the signs that disclose the muteability of the surface and the depth of things, he renders colours to speak, he demonstrates how we can perceive the tonal values and the sounds of the landscape outside, together with the resonances that are awakened in our imagination. |
