Beáta Szabó: ORGAN CONCERT

I am strongly connected to colours. While painting I can feel the body of the colours and our connection is starting to live and breathe. I really love working with dirty paints and building body for the colour combinations from them. I use my bare hands to make a direct contact with the work I am creating, enabling instinctive expressiveness to manifest on the paintings. I challenge the boundary between the image and the object within my paintings and I wish to break away from the two-dimensional surface to enter into the three-dimensional space.
The condition of the human being continues to fascinate me. I question the notions and boundaries of the body – where does the flesh end and the soul begin; where does life end and death begin; what makes this flesh a human being and not an animal; what makes this flesh a woman and what does it mean to be one?
One can show the most of a human by their traumas – when wounds are exposed it is like the perfectly transparent light fractured into visible colours. Imperfection, vulnerability, original experiences of rejection and being lost are all on the gamut of the vital organ.

Thanks for the proof-reading to Zsuzsanna Hofecker Bodóné and Valgerđur Ýr Magnúsdóttir.
