Publications Program

We aim to contribute to the mastering of theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to nonprofit management and sector-wide issues by reader-friendly and accessible publications. The Publications Program also serves to promote other projects and events of the foundation. All of these publications are available in Hungarian.

Initially, we published four-page information leaflets to promote the role of the nonprofit sector and corporate responsibility in order to provide the government and the business sectors basic information about sector-specific issues. This was followed by a publication series entitled 'The know-how of...' which gives a summary of our different training themes, providing at the same time a systematic overview of the terms and techniques applied in the non-profit sphere.

So far, the publication series has addressed the following themes:
The Nonprofit Sector in Hungary
Examples and Practices of Corporate Responsibility
The CSDF Training System

The Know-how of ...

Towards a Better Understanding

Within the framework of our "Bridging the Sectors" project, which seeks to initiate and facilitate cooperation among the nonprofit, the government and the corporate sectors, we published a book of studies entitled 'Towards a Better Understanding'. This book comprised five studies on the relationship between the Hungarian governmental and non-profit spheres, written by two foreign and three Hungarian authors. We compiled this volume as a follow-up to the conference held in July 1996 in Mexico City by the International Society for Third Sector Research in order to promote the results of the research among Hungarian audiences.

News Bulletin

We have launched a news bulletin published every three months, which is a descriptive narrative of past events and an introduction to our future activities.

Corporate Directory

The CSDF published a directory which provides information for nonprofit organizations on funding policies and mechanisms of different companies (multinational as well as small and medium size companies). This publication helps NGOs to develop their fundraising strategy and practice more efficiently according to companies’ preference.

Gdynia case study - Cooperation between local government and civil society in Poland

Representatives of the two sectors created a committee who is dealing with critical and important issues raised in the local community. The book contains the development, the basic principles and also the outcomes of the project.

User’s Guide to the Nonprofit Law

This publication aims to provide a theoretical and practical background to the Nonprofit Law. The book contains in-depth analysis about the societal and professional background of the Law and it also offers interpretations and concrete advice to nonprofit organizations. The publication includes the entire text of the Law itself.

Starting a Business

This book aims to help NGOs to start and effectively manage self-financing activities. The publication includes case-studies, details the legal background of nonprofit economic activities and also offers up-to-date information and practical advice on income generation.
