EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Niels Hueck, Stuttgart, Westdeutschland
European Parliament. This meant waiting, going through security checks, corridors, and more waiting in the conference hall. The Green Euro-MPs came, listened and responded. One of them challenged us by claiming that, if he were us, he would not leave the building until the Socialist and Christian Democrat parliamentarians had appeared as well. We the citizens of Europe were in charge here. Agreement was rapidly reached amid loud applause. The parliamentary groups were informed. The press was got in. Songs were sung. Our concerns were formulated once again. By the time we left it was four hours later than scheduled. This sit-in did not change the world but I was happy to have been part of this.
