CCA Estonia - contract with Hansapank

Center for Contemporary Arts, Estonia has signed a contract for a year with Hansapank in Estonia for making a program in a gallery that is situated in the bank’s headquarter’s at Liivalaia 10 (ground floor) in Tallinn. The bank’s idea to open an art gallery came from the wish to offer more possibilities to exhibit modern Estonian as well as international art. At the moment the Hansapanga galerii space is 400 sq/meters but soon for the gallery use there will be 200 sq/meters.
Our first exhibition was ENE-LIIS SEMPER’S NEW VIDEO-WORKS (Jan. 17. to Febr. 23. 2002). (Ene-Liis Semper represented Estonia at Venice Biennial last year and was also selected for Harald Szeemann’s exhibition). The second exhibition, INTERSECTION, (March 1 – 22), is a selection of contemporary art from Moscow (SERGEI SHUTOV, VADIM ZAKHAROV, DMITRI KUTOV). The exhibition opening was accompanied by Irina Gorlova’s lecture on Moscow new art. In May the contemporary art exhibition from Lithuania (curated by Kestutis Kuizinas) will take place. For the year 2002 eight exhibiitons are planned to exhibit in the gallery.
Executive director of the Hansapanga galerii is Mare Pedanik, CCA, Estonia program coordinator (e-mail: mare@skkke.ee)
