The minister changes his mind
Another questionable decision was made by the Minister of Culture. According to his earlier declarations, Anda Rottenberg, who has resigned from Zacheta Gallery's directorship, was to receive a nomination for a ministerial plenipotentiary for the building of a new Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. It has turned out now, however, that the minister has changed his mind - Rottenberg has been, in his opinion, too critical of his politics as regards the competition for the new director of Zachęta. The minister has also tried to explain that he has no legal bases for appointing a plenipotentiary of an institution, which does not exist yet. The motives of this decision were dubious enough - and consequently the minister hasn't informed Rottenberg about it personally; the news was carried by a representative of his bureau. "Don't break up with culture"- was a recent slogan of the minister's media campaign. Does he still remember this motto?
