The experimental film and video program, In the Middle of Europe, representing Austria, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, is organised by the Center of Contemporary Art, Warsaw.

The Fuku Video Festival, Japan, presents a Hungarian video program compiled by László Beke.

SVB VOCE - Contemporary Hungarian Video Installation, the first comprehensive video exhibition, is presented in Budapest at the Mûcsarnok, organised by the Soros Foundation Fine Art Documentation Center.

An international symposium entitled Problem Video is also organised by the same institution on the occasion of the Hungarian exhibition, which is presented together with the IMAGO - Fin de Siècle in Dutch Contemporary Art exhibition.

Toronto - Budapest Video Bridge

The video-bridge, prior to the global propogation of the Internet, established a connection between the two locations via telephone-lines, over which still images could also be sent. Participants: Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts, Trinity Square Video, York University, Ontario Collage of Art, Toronto, Balázs Béla Studio.

Black Box

From 4 November, Fekete Doboz Kft. (Black Box) commences independent cable television production. Their aim in launching broadcast is to create a channel of information for those independent of the influence of practised media, from the period of changes in the political power structure.
