The Anti-Nuclear Working Group opposes the use of nuclear energy and nuclear weapons of any kind for the following reasons:
the dangers (or risks) associated with the use of nuclear technologies;
the unresolved problem of nuclear waste;
the known and unknown effects of the ionizing radiation on health and the environment;
the danger of the nuclear proliferation all over the world;
the eastward expansion of the western nuclear lobby.
The goals of the Anti-Nuclear Working Group are:
the gradual phase out of existing nuclear power plants;
to stop the construction of new nuclear facilities;
to enforce safe disposal of existing nuclear waste in the counties that produced it;
to raise public awarness on the above issues;
to stop the ongoing nuclear armament and enforce disarmament;
to promote the use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency;
a nuclear free Hungary.
Activities and ways of implemention of the Anti-Nuclear Working Group:
to organise non-violent actions and demonstrations;
to organise meetings, seminars, trainings, and camps;
to disseminate publications and newsletters;
to inform the media on the above issues;
to recruit members (legal and natural entities);
to demonstrate the potential of renewable energy and energy efficiency;
to keep contacts with local, national and international organisations;
to encourage further involvement of local, national and international organisations;
to lobby decision makers.
Membership: Any legal or natural person who agrees with the aims, objectives, and means mentioned above and who signs the membership application form, regardless of their nationality, can become a member of the Anti Nuclear Working Group. Members can become volunteers but it is not an obligation of membership.
Secretariat: The Anti Nuclear Working Group is not a registered legal entity. The Energy Club Environmental Association is currently acting as the secretariat.
